Sometime breeding sucks.

Breeding is never easy.
Every litters are different , from the early start.
Most of them goes well, with no complications, lots of milk and all  babies grows day by day all healthy and it's such a joy -but when you get a litter that gives you just sorrow and tears, it is hard.  You want to give up your breeding dream, and just have neutred cats.

Why kittens just fade away can be alot of causes.
It can be genetic, it can be viruses, or it is just the mother natures way, that there is problems inside a kitten you can't see, but the mother cat knows.

In our breeding program we take out all the breeding cats that cause any problems we don't want to have in our breeding, if it can't get fixed somehow . It can be a female that of course don't get pregnant, don't have easy birth, low milk production, not good mothers etc etc.
It has not been many of those cases, but this happens in every cattery. Not all females are ment for breeding , but can live a spoiled happy pet life somewere else in a loving lasting home.

We have had males that we have never used, but neutred insted, and also placed in good forever homes.
One male gave us just sadness after sadness, and we discovered a blood type problem. He was neutred fast when we found out the problem, and he has a very good home now with an old siamese cat.

The genetic problems are the worst, because we don't want to put more problems in to this breed, but we are happy when there is an answer to all ours questions.

In this case it is our beloved Ainur. With his beautiful type, and his beautiful temper, that passes on to all his babies.
But it doesn't help to be beautiful and have a good temper, when almost all his babies dies :-(

2 years ago he had 2 big litters, and in the end it was only 2 kittens that grew up.
One of the kittens you might remember, our beautiful red SYS boy Kichiro. He had alot of health issues, but together with our wonderful Vet team , they found out that it was his teeth that caused his problems, and an easy fix. But he never woke up from the operation.  That was really a hard case for us.

This time 2 different litters, and during this weekend whe have lost them all.

Ainur is on his second Suprelorin Chip, and that is good. We hope we will find out why all his kittens just are fading away , togeher with our Vets. The chip will probaly last 1.5y to 2 y.
We hope of course it is nothing genetic and that it's fixable. But if there is nothing to do, or no answer can be found, we will neuter him.

So why am I writing all this?
Because we want pet-people to know that breeding is not always fun , but at the same time we want to find out why, if it's possible , and continue a healthy breeding program.
Cats that are not fit for breeding happens in every cattery, if you are breeding long enough. But many breeders choose to not talk about it. People are different. We have no problems to talk and write about it. We are dealing with alive creatures.

We have alot of exiting plans for 2018 with all our girls, the boys that are planned to be used will be a totally outcross . We are not quite ready yet for a "neuter- cattery".
So we hope for a good fresh start in our cattery next year , with joy and no tears.

New little family members.

About 4 weeks ago Cover was expecting her babies.
We have tried one time in the past. but then she just had a stillborn baby.
Since Ainur came to us anyway, hoping to get Sparkling in to heat , we decidet to mate Cover again, since she started to call 1 w before her halfsister.
Cover started to grow, but then it was like she was shrinking a little. Her due day came closer and closer. One thing we were sure of, was that  some babies had been absorbed.
Her birth started, and she gave birth to a really huge baby girl. It was just the one in her belly.
Sadly it did not live for many hours.
Talking with our Vet after, she did suspect pre-eclampsia after telling her about the birth and the pregnantcy.

Me and Carolynn was talking about if we were going to give Cover another chance next year or not.

Sparkling was placed in the bedroom, keeping Cover company while she was recovering after the hard birth.
A little week later, Sparkling was giving birth to her babies, and Cover was a good suporter.

Resting with Auntie, waiting for my siblings to get born.

After a long night, the birth was over.
We did see that Cover really wanted to help out, but was a danger to the babies, because she was so clumsy, so after a while we decidet it was better for Sparkling to take care of her babies by herself.

Everything looked so perfect. The milk was flowing and the babies was so happy.
I had to go to work , but a couple of days later, all the kittens screamed and screamed and I noticed that the milk that had been there, was gone! Sparkling had lost her appetite too.

So I had to start to help out by giving them extra milk.
5 hungry babies!
Sadly we lost 2 babies during theese weeks, to pneunomia , but the 3 remaining girls battled on.

Sparkling got a B-vitamin shot, and her appetite went back on, and she has since then eate ALOT of IAMS wet food and raw meat.
The milk came back , to two nipples....
2 nipples and 3 kittens - I still had to help out.

The babies are 19 days old today, while I am writing.
They moved down to the kitchen yesterday.

Let me introduce you to our strong baby girls.

First born  :

Our little bottle baby :

And the biggest that always got hold on the best nipple :

All I am 100% sure of is the gender of theese babies.
We have one cinnamon bicolour, I know she is spotted, but she might be a tortie as well.
The white baby, might be a white, but she can also be a siamese with white, high white , lilac/fawn tortie.
Little Fatty there, is most likly lilac spotted with white.
All of them have been purring everytime they are held since they were just a few days old.

Noone of theese babies are for sale at the moment.

********************************

Their Auntie Cover has moved out in a forever pet home, after we deicdet that she was not that kind of cat we want to give a third chance for a litter.
She will instead have a very spoiled life together with Zivas blue kitten from her first litter here in Norway.

Hopefully in short time the babies will eat solid food, and my Zombie life will get back to normal.
Working, feeding, lack of sleep is not a pleacant combination.

The dogs - kittens on their move - a new furball in the home.

The Fall is getting closer and closer. I love this time of the year, actually my favorite season, as long as it is not raining every day.
This Summer has  been like a long Spring, so I asume most of the people in Norway are not bragging about the weather ;-)
I've been working the whole June and July, but in August I had 2 w with holiday. What have we been doing? Actually not much, just been home and enjoyd the days with no alarm clock.

During the Summer me and Nicholas went to Kristiansand to visit the super cosy dog-cafe` that opened 1 year ago. It is always so nice there, and the owner is adorable too.
Jesse has been there one time before, but this time also Cookie came along. They eat homemade dog-muffins with bacon and sausage in it. Yum! And got pictures of themself up on the " Wall of Fame".

99
.-

Last weekend the blue pointed siamese baby boy moved to his new home in Bergen. To wonderful people that have an oriental from us too. The mother and one of her daughters drove to Eiken with the car, and we had 2 cosy days together before they drove the long way home again.
His sister is also in her new home now, living in a host home with friends. So she will come home again for a litter or more in the future if our plans goes well.

We miss both of them dearly, but oh my, it is silent here now, when those 2 naughty kittens has left the building :-))

I havn't got any new pics of the girl yet, but got some of little Theo in his new home.
The fun part with Theo is that the owner asked her husband about getting another little 4-legged familymember and showed him lots of pictures. He asked her if she didn't have enough with her 2 cats. She was so sure she had to come up with some good arguments and had a plan for the whole weekend convincing her husband about how good it will be with 3 cats in the house.
For no reason, the next day he just said yes!!
Someone was very happy, and me too !

The same evening he came to his new home, he crawled up in daddys lap .

Theo loves every 2-legged in the house. The more people to twist around his paws the better.

His new big brother that is breed by us, is taking very good care of the little man.  His new sister is not totally convinced yet, but it goes better day by day.

Theo and Mocca :

While they were visiting us, one other oriental boy was charming them alot. Who? Ray of course, our heartbreaker.
We still had not found the purfect home for him but to make the story short , in few weeks he will also move to Bergen!! Not to the same household as Theo, but in the same family.
He will have a new dog-brother, 2 little children as well, and who knows what the future will bring for him later, maybe a future kitten sibling as well.
Ray was neutred the other day, and everything went well.
We are so happy , because our very special boy only deserve the best home.
Ray is the special kitten that are sometimes in Eiken, and sometimes in Kristiansand, we all love him so much because he is always so sweet and gentle. We really named him right in the past. Ray of Sunshine.  He bring sunshine in to everyones life of those who meet him.

And ............ we saved the cutest News for last!!

In all my years as a breeder, I have always had another cat in my home, that are not any oriental or siamese. Just as a maskot.
After we lost the last MCO we did not have any other breed or houscat here.
Then the dogs came.
But I still wanted another furball. I did start to look in to different breeds, I also fell in love with a housecat far far away. But the housecat was not any option, because just then the time was not right for a new familymember.

I was looking in to sevreal of breeds, but one breed always popped up in my head over and over again.
After searching, talked with different breeders - all with lovely cats, I decidet to wait a little more.
But suddenly 6 months later a little chocolate tabby kitten popped up on my FB profile. My heart just jumped!!
I just contacted the breeder, with a little presentation of my self and then it was just to cross my fingers. A  girl for breeding maybe, possbile a future neuter, or a neutred boy.  I was just so in love with this litter.

Many weeks later, actually 6 days ago, the breeder and a little furball-girl walked in to my home!! My wish came true.

My new little furball is an American Curl - she is chocolate tabby, possible with silver too.
Very different in of course the look but also the personality compearing to my other cats.
She is a talker ( with the sweetest meaws), and a stalker (lol), a purring machine. All my siamese and orientals does that too, but everything is so much sweeter with the voice of a Curl.

Sometimes we can't find her, because she is sleeping somewhere in the house , often in the windows, and she doesn't need to be crowed up with the other cats.
Oh gosh! She is so adorable sweet.
And every morning she makes me smile with her funny face with her curly ears. She looks like she is always having a bad hair day, but still smiling.

Time will tell if she will have some future Curl litters with us.
We have slowly introduced her to Ziva and Sparkling, those two are the calmest cats in my home. She was looking at me as a big question the first time they talked to her lol.
The dogs are not a problem, she has grown up with big friendly dogs.
After a while she will get to know Fantasy and the others, then I am afraid we will have a Curl "on Speed" in a year from now hi hi hi :-))

A million thanks to her Austrian breeder, Victoria Vie for this funny and beautiful little kitten, and thank you for bringing her home to me. You know you are welcome to Norway whenever you wants in the future. The time went too fast. I got my furball and a very good new friend.

Say hello to :

Aegaesis Mocha , ACL b(s) 22

The light on these pictures is not 100% correct, but she is a very dark cold chocolate tabby.

This was all for now.
Next update in few weeks.

July 22, 2017

12 w very soon.

When there is just 2 kittens among the adults, we don't notice them in the same way.
They learned very early to use te toilet, and after that ,we didn't need to have a toilet in every room they went. There has only been one big kitten toilet in the kitchen, just for them , and no accident outside it.
When they got to the age where they climbed over the last kitten-fence they became sofa couddlers on fulltime.
They love it there, either it is to wrestle with eachoter, with the other adults, or the dogs. And they love to crawl up in our lap.
The only place they haven't been in, is my bedroom, because they are more naughty late at nights :-) When the night comes, me and the dogs are hiding in the bedroom, to get our beautysleep.

They are both very funny and sweet kittens. The boy has a very special place in both my and my sons heart, It is always the boys ;-))
The girl is very charming too, and she as a special love for both the dogs. Reminds me a bit of Fantasy, so she might think she is half part dog and half part cat.

We are not 100% sure of where they will move yet, if the girl will move , we hope especially for her,it will be to a home with a gentle dog. If the boy will move to a pet home, it will most likly be to Stella and Ray's litter brother.

And yes, they finally had their names. We decide to give them names after blue party drinks.

Let me introduce you to :
Attack's  Bitter Blue - the boy :

 And his sister :
Attack's Blue Latitude :

July 18, 2017

Our youngsters are growing up to beautiful ladies.

It has been a while since I have been updating about Pepsi and Stella.
Pepsi is now 8 month old and Stella is 7 month old.
Since Pepsi arrived she joined the litter after Tiger and Dotty.
We decidet to keep Stella back then, and they became best friends in few days.

Stella has big relatives, and noone think she is still a kitten,  because she is growing and growing.
She has still her beautiful green eyes and her lovley spots.
Sometimes she talkes a bit, but most of the time she is a silent and very friendly girl.

Pepsi is getting more and more red colouring in her fur and she has still her beautiful shiny green eyes.
We were actually a bit worry about her a period, because she was just arms and legs, so thin, so she has been checked by our city Vets from top to toe with a bloodsample as well.
They found out she is complitly healthy, she has just so much energi and are high and low like a duracell bunny with an apetite like a horse!
She is high on legs and very elegant, and such a sweety.

They make a great team - it's a joy to have them.

Stella who looks so much like her daddy ( and grandma). Noone is perfect, but I love her so much.

Lol. The bone was discovered after the pictures were taken,

And Pepsi - looks a bit evil and naughy for sure. She is not evil at all, but  naughty - yes!

July 3, 2017

The blueberries are now 9 w old

I have been so buisy that it has been over a month since I made some new pics of our little twins.
But they are doing very well.
Prefering the milkbar, so we have a huge work convincing them that solid cat food is tasty. No litters are the same, some are food addicted from 4 w, others have all the time in the world.
The boy is a better eater, but his sister is slowly getting there too. She prefers our food, but not all are good for a furball to eat.
It doesn't help that there is plenty of willing aunties in the house, and Fantasy has even start her own milkbar, because she can't help it , she is so in love with them.

Fantasy!! This is not your baby!

The finder is the winner ( and the keeper) ..... I don't care, he loves me too!

Baby boy : I should be clean by now ?

"Little" Auntie Stella ( soon 7 month) loves the babies too. Treat them rough like toys combine with lots of love. But they love her.

Both Fantasy and Stella are grandchildren of our beloved angel, Milla. Milla had always plenty of love for all babies born in this home - it is so wonderful to see that this love and caring has been passed on to the 2.generation as well.

Mommy Ziva get one of her babies sometimes :-))

So as you can see, there is plenty of love in this house - the babies get spoiled and kissed by 2 and 4-legged all the time.

I made some new pics of them the other day.
In real they are very much alike eachother, but the girl as a bit rounder eyes.
1 month ago the girl was the photogenic one, this time it the boy.

The boy :

The girl :

I don't know when the next update will come, because I have chosen this year, like last, to not have any Summer Holiday before August. But hopefully another update in July, and then with some names. We can't  call them "The Blueberries" forever ;-)

Ainur has been here some weeks, and finally some of the girls started to call. He has mated them, so time will tell, if the suprelorin chip is out of his system. Maybe we will have some new kittens to spoil and love this Autumn.
